paqsThe 19th Congress of Pacific Association of Quantity Surveyors (PAQS), an umbrella organisation of 13 country associations, was held in Yokohama, Japan, from 28th May to 1st June 2015. As many delegates discovered, Yokohama was the right place for the conference themed "Live together with Nature - Contribution to the sustainable world", as it is a city developed in consideration of harmony of tradition, innovation, technology and nature.

iwata0The winner of 2015 PAQS-Iwata Foundation Essay Competition, held under the theme of “Living together with the nature - contribution to the sustainable world” was Mr. Kasun Gunasekara, a young Graduate Member of IQSSL. This is the first time a Graduate member of the IQSSL won this Award. Mr. Gunasekara participated as an observer at the pre-congress PAQS Board meetings and also took part in the Young PAQS Group meeting in Yokohama, Japan. He also presented the winning essay at the PAQS 2015 Symposium.

The 2015 PAQS Congress will be held in Yokohama, which is the right place for the conference as it is a city developed in consideration for the harmony of "Tradition and Innovation" and "Nature and Technology." 

After serving two years as the President of IQSSL, Ch. QS Hemantha Aponso joined the Hall of Fame, passing the baton to newly elected President.

The 3rd President of IQSSL, Ch. QS H.D Chandrasena was the Guest of Honour. Ch. QS Hemantha Aponso is the 5th President of the IQSSL.Keeping in line with the tradition, unveiling of photograph of Immediate Past President was ceremonially held on 30th January 2015 with the participation of members of the Governing Council and seven Boards of IQSSL at the IQSSL Board Room.

This year the Social and Welfare event organized by the Public Relations & Welfare Board was held on 23rd November 2014 at the Bandaranaike Memorial Ward in Maharagama, maintained by the Sri Lanka Cancer Society.

Two wheel Chairs and dinner for the patients were provided, along with daily needs and dry rations.

It was a very successful event, with the participation of the President, Secretary, Executive Council and Board Members.
